With the theme “Human-Technology Interaction in Automated (Rail) Transportation,” a one-and-a-half-day DZM Winterschool was held at the DZM site in Annaberg-Buchholz.
With a varied mix of workshops, lectures, and discussions, doctoral students and postdocs from all four DZM locations shed light on key questions surrounding the collaboration between humans and automated vehicle systems, as well as their user-centered design.
Highlights of the event:
The “Human-Centered Design” workshop focused on the development of a user interface for the teleoperation of a train. In small groups, participants designed interface-specific solutions for different personas, which were then presented and discussed together.
The workshop “From Requirements to Designs: Wearable Interfaces for Train Teleoperation” focused on the requirements and possible applications of new technologies such as eye tracking, wearables, and XR to support teleoperation. The concepts developed were then presented.
In addition, interdisciplinary lectures from the fields of psychology, engineering, and computer science offered a wide range of insights, including human-centered design, sensor technology for autonomous driving, model-based systems engineering, e-mobility, and interior monitoring of autonomous vehicles.
In addition, interesting historical information about the DZM location was presented and insights into its future development were provided. Approximately five participants were represented per location. Many thanks to the Smart Rail Connectivity Campus and Chemnitz University of Technology, as well to all participants for the exciting exchange.
